Yasmeen:
My book is a science fiction
young adult’s book written by German writer Kerstin Gier and translated by Anthea
Bell and is about Gwyneth, a girl who can suddenly time travel because of time
travelling gene that her cousin Charlotte was supposed to be carrying. This
gene is passed down in her family and the date of birth of the next time
traveller is calculated before centuries by great scientists including Isaac
Newton. Gwyneth’s mother lies to her family about her daughter’s birthdate to
keep her from all the time travelling problems and danger hoping that she’s not
a gene carrier. But to her surprise this s turn out as planned and her daughter
gets caught up with her time travelling family freaks and the guardians who are
a grope of people who’ve have been running the association which protects the
time travellers. The mission of the time travellers is to complete missions and
find out the secret of the circle. This can be done by reading the blood of all
the time travellers into the chronograph, a device which controls time travel.
The book takes place in modern London but also features London in the past few
centuries. It’s written in first person point of view and uses a good
descriptive languages that builds landscapes of the book fluently. The dialogue
is sometimes weak but this might be caused because of the translating from
German into English. I enjoyed the book and found it fun to read.
I've rated this book 4 out of 5 stars
